THOMAS AND ELIZABETH MALONE

Thomas Malone was born in 1807 at Kileeven, County Monaghen, Ireland.

He served in the 39 Regiment of the British Army from 1825 for 22 years. He had service in New South Wales from 1826 to 1832 and India from 1832 to 1847. Thomas served as a private and was awarded two Good Conduct Awards while in India.

Thomas married Elizabeth RODERICK and it is thought that they had seven children, five being born in India or Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and two in Hobart Tasmania.

Thomas and Elizabeth and five children sailed from Calcutta on the Johanne Scarkies in August 1849 and arrived in Hobart during November 1849.
